Can All Interior Designers Guarantee 100% Human Content - Because We Can!
At AbFab, our trained interior designers, plan, create, model, schedule and build every scheme for every individual client. Whilst AI can certainly help visualise what a scheme may look like, the human touch is still very much required to accurately measure the space and source the correct furniture, fabrics, colours and patterns. These must tie in with the rest of the client’s home to provide a pleasing flow and sense of cohesion throughout the space.
The light in the room needs to also be carefully considered, for example, when choosing paint colours or linings for curtains, something that must be well-thought-out by the human in the room, rather than a robot. Here at AbFab, we select the perfect paint colours by using our own eyes to evaluate how light reflects in a space, how the room feels, and how it connects with the rest of the client's home.
There is often the issue of "over-perfection" in AI. While AI can generate room schemes, they often don’t work because the technology cannot account for the placement of personal belongings or "imperfections" like radiators, plug sockets, and windows that aren't in a perfect position.
Yes, as a tool for initial ideas, AI certainly has its place, particularly if the client is struggling to visualise the finished look, but it cannot truly put a room together. For example, a pair of handcrafted, bespoke, interlined double pinch pleat curtains can only be created by the hands of an experienced maker.
Many of the images we see on Instagram or the internet are mostly generated by AI. But wouldn’t it be better to see images of real room transformations; photographs taken by the designer before and after they have put the finishing touches to their design!
Here are a few of our favourite schemes throughout our 10 years of thousands of happy clients!
